Toy, Food and Craft Festival
The Toy, Food and Craft Festival is an annual event hosted by the school community Raphael House. It began its life as a Toy and Craft exhibition in Turnbull House – Wellington. It was felt by the community of the day that they wished to share some of the school’s treasures and Special Character with the wider Wellington Community.
Over the years the Festival has developed many new faces and traditions and each year Class communities work together to create and transform our School environment to not only share with others but to feast and enjoy our uniqueness.
We celebrate the sense of community with carefully crafted Toys and Crafts which parents generously and lovingly prepare and donate to our ever impressive Parent Craft Room.
Kindergarten parents create small gifts, from natural, materials which the young child will receive in the Little Peoples room. The handwork room is lovingly and thoughtfully prepared with this sensory experience and impressions of the young child in mind.
Older student, Class 10 (Year 11), create a magical wonderland known as the “Cookie Garden” where children young, and not so young, enter an enchanted place where they experience a transformation and leave with a homemade cookie.
Other parents are busy with tasks like creating Christmas crackers and decorations, researching new and exciting tantalizing recipes for the two cafes. Or finding the best deal in organic sausages both vegetarian and those others meaties like.
The Teaching faculty gathers student’s work, from Kindergarten to Class 12 (Year 13), which are on display in the Eurythmy Room. If you have ever wondered what a main lesson book is you are bound to find one, or more, here!
To ensure there is fun for everyone we even create fun games to play both indoors and out. Then to add to the atmosphere during the day you will hear the sound of music, singing and dance.
All this washed down with excellent organic coffee, I am sure you will agree is a great day for all.
Our next festival is on Sunday 8th November 2009 from 10.00 am to 3.00 pm.
