Art

In Art, our students have the opportunity to investigate and develop skills in painting and drawing, printmaking, design and new media. The programmes are extremely varied and students are offered a range of themes, ideas, techniques and materials to explore. These are characterized by established conventions and methods, such as easel painting but also reflect the innovation of contemporary practice, for example digital image making.

Such knowledge helps students to develop an empathy with artists throughout world history and clarifies their own attitudes towards art making conventions. This is a starting point for many research activities and works in tandem with Main Lesson themes such as The European Renaissance.

Our students are recognised as developing artists and we strive to identify all creative achievement and endeavour; they reflect the innovation of contemporary times by communicating information and ideas, promoting enquiry and presenting us with challenges. This is their artistic journey of personal expression towards individual growth and creativity.
